  2. First of all, We as Syrian refugees are very grateful to Netherlands for your hospitality.
Second, Moslims or Christians we are are all sufferd from terrorist od isis while we where in Syria.
Third, what happened in France burned our hearts as much as our people who are being killed every day in Syria.
We are as any comunity any country, we have well educated and civilised people.
What we hope that not to generalize the judgment on all refugees, we more than any body else know, and realy know the pain exerted by terror.
We respect Netherlans people, norms and culture, and we hope that you accept us to be your guests till the crisis ends in Syria.
We understand any action your government takes against any person who might affect your security and peace.
    Thank you

      Hello Maher,

For me your explanation isn’t necessary. The people who conclude: “All refugees are possible terrorists” are people who oughtt to be ashamed of themselves but are not and will not be.
      *
About respecting the culture and norms: everywhere people have trouble accepting each other’s customs and sentiments. What I understand people from Syria are very hospitable. We Dutch are less so. We have other qualities though.
      *
I suppose adapting to Dutch ways of living and behaving requires some effort. Some things you won’t like and don’t want to adapt to. This is universal. The Dutch people repeating that refugees should adapt to ‘our’ culture, norms and values often are bigots, themselves very narrow minded. You wont’t please them, whatever you do. It will be never enough. So better not even try to please them.
      *
However, many refugees might have a hard time getting used to our culkture, which is in many ways ‘godless’, and in which nothing is spared criticism. I myself find the advantages (free exchange of ideas, liberty) very much bigger than the disadvantages.

I hope your living conditions improve very soon.

@Maher, many thanks for the nice gesture and the white roses! Also for your sympathetic statements and explanations. I certainly do think that a vast majority of the Leiden population, maybe apart from some primitive minds, understand and deplore your position and wishes you all the best in this difficult and tragic period of your life. Good luck !

  7. Dear Maher, I do hope you feel at home in our country and that it will be yours. You are lucky to be in Leiden because this city has a very long history of taking in refugees. Distributing white roses is a very good idea. Goodwill is what you need now and you seem to understand that very well.

“We respect Netherlands people, norms and culture, and we hope that you accept us to be your guests till the crisis ends in Syria” says Maher. Of course he could only speak for himself not for other people…..
I didn’t think that they go back to syria after many years. They will stay here.
And who generalize and says that all syrian refugees are terrorist? Not one!

Primitive minds, narrow minded people and bigots are people who, after some time, do not accept, do not respect and do not adapt themselves anyway to our norms and culture. This probably did not change after some time because their strong terrible muslim faith did not allowed at all that they adapt themselves…..

Nevertheless distributing white roses is a better idea than distributing red roses. 🙂
